Epical Design Collaborative draws on the professional and research experience of the partners. The focus is to help create humane cities and smart villages through strategies and frameworks for urban development to make it inclusive and equitable, through environmentally responsive architecture, sensitive to local ethos and through multi-disciplinary, human centric, planning-design projects that add value to the built environment. EDC works across scales and sectors, collaborates with thinkers, students, professionals, organizations and communities to transform the quality of human habitat and thereby quality of human life.

The projects listed below are done after the inception of Epical Design Collaborative.

Project: International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), Mumbai. Client: MMRDA through TCE. Timeline: January 2017 till date
Sub-consultant and team leader to the team of Tata Consulting Engineers and Townland for Preparation of Detailed Layout Master Plan and Urban Design Guidelines on TOD principles for 123.5 acres (50 Ha) SEZ for the Proposed International Financial Services Centre at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai; having local character and world class standards.

Project: Silvassa Smart City. Client: Silvassa Smart City Limited through TCE. Timeline: January 2020 till date
(1) Sub-consultant and Conceptualizer for design of 7 acres Central Public Park and Shahid Smarak and its integration with 8 acres existing Sports facility. The park included adventure zone, science park, sensory park, meditation zone, jogging track, fountains, waterbodies, cafeteria and landscape lighting.

(2)  Sub-consultant and Urban designer for 45 acre City Core Area Streetscape including road cross sections adhering to universal design practices, junctions, traffic islands, side-walks, pedestrian crossings, shared spaces, plazas, public sit-out spaces, bus shelters, public restrooms, vendor spaces, auto and car parking spaces, cycle track, street art work, street lights, trash bins, railings, landscape, trees and tree guards.

Project: Commercial Office Interiors Client: Education and Fin-tech companies Timeline: 2017 – 2019
Design and implementation of commercial office interior spaces including lobbies, work-stations, meeting rooms, pantries, formal and informal spaces; giving a unique character to the work environment.

Project: Review and Vetting of Pre-feasibility report. Client: Exim Bank. Timeline: August 2019. Review and vetting of Pre-Feasibility Report on SEZ in Bangladesh for lending agency – Export Import (EXIM) Bank of India for its Line of Credit.

5 days Winter Workshop at CEPT University in December 2020 for Graduate and Post-Graduate students – Titled “For Smart Urban Development – Project Formulation, Prioritization, be ready for Implementation”.

5 days Summer Workshop at CEPT University in May 2021 for Graduate and Post-Graduate students – Titled “Who pays and how do you pay for smart urban projects”.

ABOUT

OUR LOGO

Six leaves and three petals of our logo symbolize six sectors and three service verticals of our work. All the shapes in green fitting in a circle represent our environmentally sensitive, collaborative and comprehensive approach. Radial and interlinked forms speak of the human centric focus. Smaller to larger elements depict our wide range in scale, from smaller corporate interiors to large scale urban planning projects.

OUR STORY

This is a story of two college friends who parted ways after graduation to pursue different professional goals and excelled in their chosen fields, met after two decades and instantly hit it off. Preeti started EDC and it was only a matter of time that Supriya joined in her journey of passion. Both, with a lot of professional experience and on the cusp of their career paths, decided to give back to the profession, what they have earned in terms of knowledge and expertise. Considering the same value system, complementary skill-sets and varied exposure they possess, they make an excellent team. 

PREETI PETHE INAMDAR

Preeti, Founder Director at Epical Design Collaborative, is a gold medalist architect from MSU Vadodara, post graduate in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT Ahmedabad, MBA from SPJIMR Mumbai and has a P.G.Dip. in Urban Land Management from IHS Rotterdam. 

Preeti has more than 25 years of professional experience in India, Africa, Middle east and Bangladesh, with diverse clients like Corporates, Governments, NGOs and Funding Agencies.  She has been Gold certified business assessor for companies, under Tata Business Excellence Model, a mentor and a team leader.  She was selected as ‘Core Group Member’ on “Task Force of Tata Group Companies” to plan, acquire and execute Mega Development Projects.  Associated with Tata Group for 16 years, she was Head of Architecture and Design in TCE.  She was chosen as a future leader and awarded an MBA program.

With deep interest in Ekistics, she has handled most of the components of Urban Planning, like Smart Cities, Cyber Cities, Large Area Planning, Town Planning Scheme, SEZ, International Financial Centre, Industrial and residential townships, and all types of urban infrastructure facilities.  She has led multi-disciplinary design teams for segments like healthcare, sports facilities, institutional campuses, public buildings, iconic buildings, commercial, residential and industrial buildings. 

She has executed PMC of large projects like IT parks and educational institutes as well as designs for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation works in disaster affected rural and urban settlements.  She steered the Project and Risk Monitoring Cell for about 180 projects at Infrastructure Business Unit Level.

She has been visiting faculty at MSU Vadodara, Academy of Architecture Mumbai, Symbiosis School of Economics Pune.  She is regularly invited for summer and winter workshops at CEPT on different facets of Urban Planning. 

DR. SUPRIYA NENE

Supriya, Co-founder Partner at EPICAL Design Collaborative, has done Architecture from MSU Vadodara, MS-Architecture in Computer Visualization from University of Cincinnati USA with University Grants Scholarship and Research Assistantship, and PhD from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. 

Supriya enjoys academics and has keen interest in digital technology and visualisation, and concepts of sustainable development, has more than 22 years of academic and professional experience in USA and in India combined. She has served the academic field in various capacities, as Visiting Faculty, Associate Professor and HOD, for 12 years and then as Head of the Institution for 6 years in Pune, India. She was a key person in development of Post Graduate Program in Architecture for the University of Pune.  

She has written papers and presented at national and international conferences.  She was on the panel of judges for the international design competition for FEIDAD (Far Eastern International Digital Architectural Design) awards  for three years. She has been invited as a speaker, resource person, session chair and paper reviewer for many conferences by various universities and the Council of Architecture, Training and Research Cell. She was an advisor for two  universities in Australia for the student workshop and master’s programs. 

As a professional, she has worked on architectural, commercial, institutional and infrastructure projects right from design development to coordination with consultants for execution of the projects such as campus master planning, college buildings, library, student activity centre, IT park, etc.  in various capacities

She has been nominated as an expert member for the Board of Studies at various universities in India, has been a guest lecturer and reviewer of dissertation and architectural design theses at various colleges. She has been appraiser of PhD works of the candidates regularly and is currently guiding PhD candidates in faculty of architecture.
